Welcome

Welcome!

I'm Aeon, and I have put in over 800 hours learning and experimenting with what works and doesn't work with mixing music. As I originally taught myself (through watching other DJs mix, watching tutorial videos, searching forums, etc.), I found that it was actually really difficult and/or time consuming to find all the specific and relevant information I needed to learn certain techniques. Combine this with a decent amount of interest from others in learning from me, I figured it would be more efficient to consolidate all my knowledge on the subject into nice convenient and easy to follow training packages.

Realizing I also have knowledge on a variety of other subjects people would be interested in learning, I figured it would be more efficient to just incorporate all of this into 1 place. As a result, I have invested many months putting all of my knowledge together into individually packaged courses on this site for your enjoyment!

Dream big, achieve bigger, and may all your dreams become reality!

What To Expect

In the following training, you will learn the basics of using DJ software (such as Traktor Pro and Virtual DJ, more may be included in the future) to create simple and basic music mixes. Most of the lessons will be presented as full video tutorials, which may be accompanied with text and/or documents. By the end of this course, you should have full confidence to be able to use and navigate DJ software, and create basic, continuous music mixes.

While almost all of the guides will be demonstrated using Traktor Pro 3 DJ software, there is a sub topic that will detail how to setup free software (Virtual DJ 8) to mix using a keyboard and mouse...

The Virtual DJ will be done as a basic overview to get you acquainted to general DJ layout and functionality, and be able to make basic mixes with the software. Once you get accustomed to using this software, it is assumed you will be acquiring gear, which typically comes with their own software (most commonly Serato/Rekordbox, or Traktor Pro). This reason is why Virtual DJ will not be in depth in this training, as it is expected you will migrate away from the software shortly after getting into DJing... Most techniques and overviews of software features apply across most DJ software, besides maybe appearance, location, and name, so you should still be able to carry these lessons over with you to whichever software you plan to use.

*Keep in mind that while this training aims to make the process as replicate-able as possible, mixing music is an art that relies on the creative freedom of the individual creating to mix to be successful. While these topics will basic framework for how to navigate the software/device as well as the fundamentals for how/where/why to mix sections of songs smoothly, the real enjoyment and separation between DJs comes down to how they utilize the framework to their own unique style instead of just turning DJing into simple and repeatable formulas.

*I recommend ensuring you have promotional and marketing emails enabled, as this is how I will be sending out emails notifying of changes, updates, or new additions to trainings.
